INSTALLATION

SIMPLE SET-UP & PLACEMENT

Installing a Tropf-Blumat system couldn’t be easier—you don’t need any experience or special tools, just a pair of scissors from the kitchen drawer. Once it’s set up, the lines stay in place all year long, no winter removal needed.

Placing the sensors works the same way for every plant, and you’ll get the hang of it in no time.

Step 1
Unscrew the top parts and reassemble them while completely underwater. Each sensor must be filled fully with water.

Step 2
Keep the filled sensors submerged for at least 15 minutes.

Step 3
This part is key: water the soil in every pot thoroughly several times before moving on.

Step 4
Insert each Tropf-Blumat into the moist soil about 10–15 cm away from the plant. Make sure the clay cone is fully covered with soil, and press the soil down gently to remove air pockets.

Step 5
Attach the flexible drip tube to the T-piece or end-piece, then thread it through the Tropf-Blumat. Let the tube extend about 8 cm past the sensor so it ends close to the plant. Finally, tighten the setting screw.

pREP THE SYSTEM

• Turn on your water tap and check that all sensors are closed—no drips should be showing. If you spot one, just give the setting screw a little extra twist.

• Start with the last Tropf-Blumat in your system to let the air out and get things flowing smoothly

1. Twist the setting screw counterclockwise until water begins to flow from the drip tube.

2. Slowly turn the setting screw back until the water stops flowing. Leave just a single drop of water at the tip of the drip tube.

3. To finish, tighten the setting screw an extra 1/4 turn (aligning with the two marking arrows).

READY!

Because the soil is already moist, your Tropf-Blumat might not drip right away—that’s normal. Watering only kicks in once the soil starts to dry. Go ahead and set each sensor individually.

CHECKS

• Keep an eye on the water flow for the first few days. If you need more water, turn the screw open; for less, turn it closed. Usually, just a tiny adjustment (about half an arrow) is enough.

Don’t worry if the soil looks dry on top—the water spreads underground. Most of the time, only the soil right under the drip tube will look wet..

Always keep the tap open or refill your tank on time, even if it rains. If the water stops, the roots will pull water from the Tropf-Blumat, and it won’t work
