DIGITAL MOISTURE METER FAQ

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

My Moisture Meter shows impossible readings. What should I do?

The calibration is off and needs resetting. Unscrew the measuring head, hold the on button for 5 seconds until “ooo” appears, then refill with water, reassemble, and place it back in the soil

Do I need to remove it when watering?

No. The moisture meter is splash-proof. Just avoid pouring water directly onto it to extend its lifespan. If you use the protective cap, direct watering isn’t a problem.

Why does it lose water over time?

This is normal. The moisture meter slowly loses water and needs topping up once or twice a year. Check the white casing—if it’s half full, it’s time to refill.

Could I break it when inserting it into hard soil?

It’s sturdy, but in dense or compact soil, loosen the soil first or make a hole using the Blumat corer, which is shaped to fit perfectl

Is the moisture meter waterproof and airtight?

No. The three screws on the bottom are intentionally unsealed to allow pressure equalization, which ensures accurate readings.

Why is the display misted inside?

Moist air can enter and condense when temperatures drop quickly. This is normal and doesn’t affect performance. The display usually clears as it warms up. For faster drying, place it in a warm, dry area or unscrew it briefly.

What if I drop it in water?

Water may seep in through the screws. Open the moisture meter, remove the battery, and let everything dry completely before reassembling and checking function.
